Sam Kelash and Grant Mumm Bring Fresh Vision, Community Roots, and a Modern Approach to Commercial Construction
RICE, Minn. — April 21, 2026 — Keystone Design Build, a commercial general contractor serving dental clinics, funeral homes, healthcare facilities, and small businesses across Central Minnesota, today announced the transition to new ownership under Sam Kelash and Grant Mumm. The milestone marks not just a change in leadership, but the beginning of a new chapter defined by community investment, operational efficiency, and a hands-on approach to serving the local businesses that drive Central Minnesota's economy.
The announcement coincides with the opening of Keystone's new headquarters at 405 W Main St in Rice, Minnesota, a deliberate choice that signals the company's commitment to planting deeper roots in the community it serves.
"We're not coming in to reinvent what was built," said Sam Kelash, Co-Owner and incoming principal. "We're here to build on it and take it further than ever."
Sam Kelash brings eight years of hands-on project management experience at Keystone to his new role. Grant Mumm, Co-Owner and Development Consultant, brings a complementary background in client development and business strategy. Together, they represent a leadership team that is accessible, accountable, and deeply invested in the outcomes of every project, not just the contracts.
A New Standard for Efficiency and Affordability
One of the new ownership's central priorities is closing the gap between quality commercial construction and what small and mid-sized businesses can actually afford. By integrating modern project management technology, streamlined processes, and a leaner operational model, Keystone is positioned to deliver the kind of precision and transparency that larger legacy firms burdened by outdated systems and overhead simply can't offer.
"The construction industry hasn't always been great at serving the SMB market," said Mumm. "There's a real opportunity to bring efficiency, clear communication, and honest budgeting to businesses that need a partner they can trust, not just a contractor."
This approach allows Keystone to be nimble where others are rigid, and proactive where others are reactive, a meaningful advantage for clients navigating tight timelines, constrained budgets, or complex builds.
Built on a Strong Foundation
Marc Kelash, who founded Keystone Design Build in 2006, will remain with the company as a Project Manager, contributing more than two decades of hands-on expertise to the project teams and client relationships he helped build.
"Marc created something worth carrying forward," said Kelash. "His standards for craftsmanship and client care are baked into how we operate. That doesn't go away. It's the floor we're building from."
Part of the Community, Not Just in It
The move to Rice is more than symbolic. The new ownership sees Keystone's role as inseparable from the health of the communities it serves, supporting local businesses, hiring locally, and being present in ways that matter beyond the job site.
"We want Keystone to be the contractor that Central Minnesota businesses call because they know us, trust us, and feel like we're genuinely invested in their success," said Mumm. "That's the kind of company we're building."
Keystone Design Build continues to serve dental clinics, funeral homes, healthcare facilities, restaurants, retail centers, and multi-family housing projects throughout Central Minnesota and the Upper Midwest.
